Umbria Regional Dinner

Posted by adam on April 17, 2018

We're visiting Umbria for next week's regional dinner on Tuesday 24th April.  With borders to Tuscany, Lazio and Le Marche, this region is known as Italy's "green heart" with plentiful medieval hill towns, dense forests, fast flowing rivers, rolling hills and of course some truly fantastic local cuisine.

It's been a real pleasure to create this menu with so much wonderful produce to choose from - we've got green beans from the Trasimeno lakeside, Alamy wild boar in the parpadelle, beautiful pork for the salami, plus some superb local tomatoes - for a spicy sauce to dress the "strangled Priest" pasta with and to cook with as the base for our Umbrian freshwater fish stew.

We really like the sound of "Drunken hen" as a main course and then we've got some wonderfully named desserts including "Nun's biscuits" and PINK cake to finish.

As always the dinner is £28 per person and includes all anti-pasti and desserts to share across your table.  You can book in groups of all sizes which includes our large sharing table seating up to 20 people at no extra cost.

Dinner starts from 6pm with bookings available until late.  To make a booking please call us on , visit our website or click HERE

Liguria Regional Dinner

Posted by adam on March 19, 2018

We're off to Northwest Italy and Liguria - home of the Italian riviera - for our monthly regional dinner next week on Tuesday 27th March.

Pesto - a mix of fresh basil, pine kernels, olive oil, garlic & Parmesan - originates from Liguria and we're serving it with linguini, new season's potatoes and green beans next week.  We've got two stuffed pasta dishes - a meaty Ravioli alla Genovese and delicious pansòuti, filled with more fresh herbs, garlic and crushed walnuts.

For mains we're cooking a layered filo tart with spring veg and ricotta plus a traditional braised rabbit dish that comes in a sauce of white wine & fresh capers.  Unsurprisingly, seafood plays a major part in Ligurian cuisine and takes centre stage in a wonderful fish stew we're cooking using cod and a variety of new season's vegetables and peppery olive oil.

There's three desserts - shared across your table - our eye's on that Rum cake and apricot jam...

As always the dinner is £28 per person and includes all anti-pasti and desserts to share across your table.  You can book in groups of all sizes which includes our large sharing table seating up to 20 people at no extra cost.

Tuscany regional dinner

Posted by adam on February 19, 2018

We're off to Central Italy and Tuscany next week for February's regional dinner on Tuesday 27th.

Tuscan cuisine, firmly rooted in simplicity and quality of the ingredients is a favourite of Stevie's we've put together the below menu for the night. We start off with three toasts, each topped with something tasty, artichoke should be good. Next up there's a choice of Rabbit ragu, Pici pasta al pomodoro or Ribolita - a typical peasant stew made with cavalo nero and lashings of the local olive oil.

For the main event there's a great dish of fagioli beans stewed with pork sausge, a tomato and fish stew Cacciuccio that's served with bread and olive oil and Sformata, a plate of baked ricotta that's flavoured with nutmeg. For desserts there's a wicked choclate cake, Cantucci (the Tuscan answer to biscotti) and Pecorino cheese with Tuscan flatbreads.

Tuscany is the third largest producer of wine in Italy and we'll be sure to have some nice varieties of Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano on the list for the night too. Plus a superb Vin Santo wine to pair with the dessert.

As always the dinner will be £28 per person to and includes all anti-pasti and desserts to share across your table.

Dinner starts from 6pm with bookings available until late. To make a booking please call us on or book online HERE

Lombardy Regional Dinner

Posted by adam on January 17, 2018

We're ending January on a high with a 4 course dinner celebrating the region of Lombardy in Northwest Italy. Set with Milan as it's capital and no coastline to speak of, the food from this region is typified by rice, maize, meats, cheeses & butter - all the good stuff basically.

Tuesday 30th January, from 6pm

Similar to all Italian cooking, Lombardy has tons of variety to it and so we've put together a menu that we think best represents the region as a whole - there's two superb hand rolled pastas, one served in brodo broth, a poached fresh bream dish from Lake Como, Osso Bucco served with saffron risotto alla milanese, Taleggio cheese coming from the southern plains, and a delicious nougat dessert, Torrone hailing from the riverside town of Cremona.

As always the dinner will be £28 per person to and includes all the anti-pasti and desserts to share across your table. You can book in groups of all sizes which also includes our large sharing table seating up to 20 people at no extra cost. Dinner starts from 6pm with bookings available until late.
